According by the history the Hindu's god valor-Visakha Varm was famous here so that this city was named on his name Visakha under the part of The Kalinga Kingdom located in the Estren Ghats hills and facess of the Bay of Bengal to east, which was ruled by the king Ashoka (260B.C)after that was ruled by the kings Vengi, Pallava Chola.. lastly it was added in the part of Vizianagar Empire.After that it was formed as a Visakhapatnam District in 1803 A.D with 11161 Sq.Km.apprx. population 14 lacs.
